7 Leadership Habits

Here are my top 7 leadership habits.

1- Source the right personnel: You have your vision but cannot execute alone. You need to build a team of senior management that understand this vision and share your passion and hunger to achieve it. Your team is an extension of yourself and their dedication and professionalism is a reflection of your own. Therefore, choose your team wisely.

2- Cultivate a family feel: When you have a fantastic team it is crucial to cultivate a bond, inspiring the loyalty and teamwork found in close families. This results in the growing dedication of your team members and aids effective communication.

3- Escape your comfort zone: Sacrifice is a necessity for those who lead. It means pushing your personal boundaries every day to reach your true potential. Also, there is nothing more inspiring to a team than a leader who is proactive and setting the best possible example.

4- Strategy is everything: Have a clear road map for your business. Set short and long term goals, respond to situations as they arise and don’t be afraid to amend your strategy if necessary. Finally, the most important part of the process- implementation. The best strategy in the world is useless if you don’t make it happen.

5- Stand still and you’re history: Although it can be tempting to repeat processes that are tried and tested, it can lead to stagnation. It’s important to always be striving for improvement and new ways to do things more effectively and productively, even if this means embracing change often.

6- Be willing to take chances: Being in business means taking risks – and though this can be daunting it is the only way of moving forward. A willingness to take chances is central to executing an ambitious expansion plan – whether in the medium or long term.

7- Constant perseverance: Remember, we are never defeated as long as we’re not discouraged. Even when we take informed risks, we still sometimes encounter setbacks. What you learn from those setbacks and how you react to them is what will determine whether you are ultimately a success or not.
